Hamartia - A tragic flaw, leading to one's downfall.
Hubris - Pride, usually leading to one's downfall.
Narcissus - A man in Greek myth who was so handsome and so vain that he stared at his reflection in a stream, until he starved to death. Thus we have the word: narcissistic.
Shakespeare Biography:
- Born in Startford upon Avon, April 23, 1564
- He didn't go to university.
- He had begun writing in 1590s for sure.
- Moved to London in the 1580s.
- Married to Anne Hathaway in 1585
- Baptism records of a girl, twins, Judith and Hamnet (died).
- His theatre company (Lord Chamberlain's Men) changed their name to The King's Men, when King James took the thrown.
- Theatres closed in the 1590s due to plague.
- He built the GLOBE THEATRE.
- 1595-1605 is his Middle Period (Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, etc)
- Died April 23, 1616
- Second most quoted after the Bible.
- Wrote 153 sonnets.
- Added near 3000 words to English language (depending on your source the number may be lower)
